Muthur – Kariyapuram Demonstration; All 15 arrested have been granted bail

46All 15 suspects who were arrested on suspicion during the protest against the liquor store in Mudur – Kariyapuram area have been released on bail by the Mudur court today (28).

The case was taken up in the Mudur Magistrate’s Court today (28) by way of motion application on behalf of the opponents. All those who were arrested were Magistrate Court Judge Mrs. In the presence of HM Tasneem Bausan, they were subjected to an identification parade with more than a hundred people in the open court.

Later, each of them was released on 50,000 cash bail and has been summoned for trial on the 25th of November.

On the 25th of Tuesday, when they were protesting against the opening of a liquor store in Kardiyapuram area, the police attacked the people who were there after 8.00 pm as a premeditated scuffle.

Later, additional police and special task forces were called to the place and the people who were protesting peacefully, the people who were not associated with it, and the people who took shelter in the church were attacked and arrested.

In the said incident, 15 persons including 11 males including a school student and 4 females including a nursing mother were arrested by the police and 13 mopeds, 11 motorcycles and 3 tricycles were taken away by the police.

The arrested were produced in court by the police on Wednesday (26). Meanwhile, the court had ordered to extend the remand until the 3rd of July.

In this case, it is noted that the said case was taken up by the police yesterday (27) through a motion application and some sections of the case filed against the opponents were removed by the police.
