As the flow of water in the Okanagan Cauvery river in Dharmapuri district has increased to 28,000 cubic feet per second, Parisal movement has been banned again.
Due to heavy rains in the Cauvery catchment areas of Karnataka state, excess water is being released from the Kabini and Krishnaraja Chak dams into the Cauvery at a rate of about 19000 cubic feet per second. In this situation, the flow of water in Okanagan Cauvery river in Dharmapuri district was 13,000 cubic feet per second, which suddenly increased to 28,000 cubic feet this morning. As a result, District Collector Shanti ordered to ban the operation of Parisal in Okanagan Cauvery river. Also, the ban on bathing in Okanagan Falls has been extended for the 34th consecutive day.
Meanwhile, as the flow of water to Mettur dam in Salem district has increased, the opening of water has also been increased. Mettur dam has an inflow of 21,500 cubic feet per second and the release of water from the dam has been increased from 16,000 cubic feet to 21,500 cubic feet.
