PHI testing in restaurants

Public health inspectors raided restaurants, hotels and cafeterias in Batticaloa’s Kathankudi Municipal Division on Monday, the day before yesterday.

Kathankudi District Supervising Health Inspector M.A.M.Bashir said that this test was conducted after the information received by the public health inspectors while the other traders, public and pedestrians were facing various inconveniences due to health disturbance including dengue fevers and inhaling foul odors due to the discharge of waste water from their business establishments into the public vaticans.

Public health inspectors conducted inspections of restaurants, hotels and cafeterias that were causing disruption to other traders and the public by discharging sewage from their businesses into public spaces.

He said that restaurants, hotels and cafeterias located on Kathankudi main road have been tested.

During this operation, more than ten canteens and canteens were checked and the pipes flowing into the sewers were blocked with cement by the city council employees and this problem was solved.

He also said that from now on, they should make special channels to remove the waste water from their commercial establishments.
