While trying to arrest the Tamil Nadu seafarers in Nedundivu coast, one seafarer has died and another has gone missing.
Five fishermen from Tamil Nadu trespassed and caught fish in a boat in Nedundivu sea.
At that time, the marines who were engaged in patrolling the sea today (01) tried to arrest the seafarers who were involved in illegal fishing.
Meanwhile, the seafarers’ boat has capsized in the sea. One of them has drowned in the sea and the other has gone missing. The other three were rescued by the Navy and brought to the Kangesanthurai Naval Camp.
While the body of the deceased has been recovered and handed over to the hospital, the navy is also involved in searching for the missing seaman.
Meanwhile, on June 24th, a Sri Lankan Navy sailor fell to his death while trying to arrest the Tamil Nadu seamen who had trespassed into the Sri Lankan waters and caught fish.
