Chennai : The Madras High Court has ordered that there is no ban on the release of Vikram’s film Tangalan directed by B. Ranjith.
Directed by Pa. Ranjith, actor Vikram’s new look ‘Thangalan’ will clash with Keerthy Suresh’s Raghu Datta and Arulnidhi’s Demandi Colony 2 on August 15. Earlier, the Madras High Court had ordered producer Gnanavel Raja to deposit Rs 1 crore before releasing the film due to a debt issue.
That is, Palavi IPs have paid money to Arjunlal Sundardas from Chennai. He lent it to many people and never got the money back. Due to financial loss, he was declared bankrupt. Later after Arjunlal passed away, his property was managed by the estate.
Gnanavelraja had taken a loan of Rs 10 crore 35 lakh rupees from Arjunlal Sundar Das in 2013. The property owner had filed a case in the Madras High Court seeking repayment of this amount with interest.
The bench of Justices G. Jayachandran and CV Karthikeyan, which heard the case, issued an interim order. In the order, before the release of Tangalan, i.e. by August 14, Rs. 1 crore to be deposited. It was informed that if such money is paid, the film can be released.
According to the order, the Madras High Court has allowed the release of the movie ‘Thangalan’ after Studio Green informed that Rs.1 crore has been paid into the property owner’s account.
While the Madras High Court has allowed the release of the film as the money has been deposited, the case related to the non-payment of Rs 10 crore has been adjourned to August 28.
